Adlington fastest into 800m Freestyle final

Rebecca Adlington has secured her spot in the final of the 800m Freestyle tomorrow after a solid heat swim this morning at the British Gas Swimming Championships 2012.

Adlington, who has already achieved the Olympic qualifying time in the 400m Free, will be looking to secure her spot in her preferred event tomorrow evening.

Also through to the 800m final are Eleanor Faulkner and Jazmin Carlin.

Hatfield’s Adam Brown is safely through to tonight’s semi finals of the 50m Free after finishing with the fastest time in the heats. He will be joined by Craig GibbonsAlex Garnett and 100m Champion Simon Burnett.

Jack Marriott was the fastest qualifier in the 100m Butterfly after smashing his personal best in the heats session.

Marriot touched in 53.16, over a second ahead of his previous best time. Antony James of Plymouth was second fastest with Michael Rock also safely through.

Lizzie Simmonds was the fastest qualifier in the heats of the 200m Backstroke  touching in 2.11.13 ahead of Steph Proud who finished in 2.11.16.
