Craig leads 400m Free qualifiers on Day Two

Paralympic champion Josef Craig (S7) continued his World Champs preparation as he qualified fastest from the MC 400m Freestyle heats on day two of the British Gas Swimming Championships 2013.

The 16-year old – who will make his World Championship debut in Montreal this summer – was just four seconds shy of his world record as he qualified in 4:46.86 (958 pts).
Paralympic silver medallist Hannah Russell (S12) lead qualifiers in the Women’s MC 400 Free in 4:44.46 (927 pts).
Tully Kearney broke her own S10 British Record to qualify in second on 4:45.27 (878 pts) while Paralympic champion Eleanor Simmonds (S6) was third through in 5:39.84 (829 pts).
S14 Paralympic champion Jessica-Jane Applegate showed her good form as she lead qualifiers in the MC 200m Freestyle.
The 16-year old touched in 2:13.36 (1026 pts) while S14 swimmer Ben Procter qualified fastest in the men’s heats in 2:04.65 (883 pts).
Finally, Amy Marren (S9) and James Clegg (S12) lead the way in the MC 100m Butterfly heats. Marren lowered her PB to 1:12.04 (794 pts) to finish ahead of Gemma Almond’s S10 British Record effort of 1:10.53 (761 pts).
Paralympic bronze medallist Clegg touched in 1:00.66 (825 pts) ahead of Phelipe Rodrigues (S10) in 59.81 (821 pts) and James Hollis (S10) in 1:00.09 (809 pts).
