Halsall leads way in 100m Free heats

Francesca Halsall was the fastest qualifier in the heats of the 100m Freestyle on the fourth day of the British Gas Swimming Championships.

Halsall (Loughborough ITC/National Sprint) touched in 55.20 ahead of Emma Wilkins (Loughborough Uni) who finished in 55.68 and City of Sheffield’s Rebecca Turner who was third in 55.82.
Adam Brown of Hatfield is safely through to tonight’s semi finals of the 100m Free after finishing fastest in 49.15.
City of Glasgow’s Robbie Renwick lowered his Scottish record to 49.49 while 50m Free silver medallist Ben Proud set a personal best 49.89 to progress third fastest.
Derventio Excel’s Molly Renshaw was the fastest qualifier in the 200m Breaststroke heats touching in 2.30.09.
Team Bath’s Stacey Tadd was seeded second in 2.31.07 and Danielle Lowe (Bebington) was third in 2.31.24.
Derby’s Adam Peaty was the fastest qualifier in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke heats this morning touching ahead of Ross Murdoch (Stirling ITC) as they secured their spots in tonight’s semi final.
Michael Rock posted the fastest time in the 100m Butterfly heats as he swam 53.22 with Loughborough’s Tom Laxton second in 53.47.
City of Sheffield’s Braxton Timm won the final heat to qualify third fastest for tonight's semis in 53.51.
Craig McNally of Warrender and Ryan Bennett of Stirling ITC finished in 2.00.71 and 2.01.25 respectively to each take lane four for tonight's 200m Backstroke semifinals.
They will be joined by Peterborough’s Liam Knight and Bath ITCs Calum Jarvis who qualified strongly in 2.01.71 and 2.02.23 respectively.
Finally, having set English records over 400m and 800m Freestyle earlier in the week, Dan Fogg continued his strong form to qualify fastest for tomorrow night’s 1500m final.
The defending champion clocked 15:15.95 to progress ahead of Perth City's Stephen Milne (15:19.39) and Swansea ITC swimmer Tom Allen (15:24.77).
