19th February 2014
Lauren Quigley and Joe Roebuck will defend their respective national titles after confirming their entry for the British Gas Swimming Championships 2014 in Glasgow.
And the 18-year old will return to challenge in all three backstroke events in Glasgow, as well as the 50m, 100m and 200m Freestyle as she looks to seal a place on the England team for her first Commonwealth Games.
While Quigley will be competing in her seventh British Champs, this year’s event will be Roebuck’s 13th, having missed just one staging since the inaugural Championships in 2001.
The 28-year old – who won his eighth career gold with victory in the 200m Butterfly last year – will line up in the 100m and 200m Fly as well as the 200m Individual Medley.
Roebuck will be aiming to make the grade for his second Commonwealth Games, having won 200m and 400m IM silver for England at the 2010 Games in Delhi.
Edinburgh University’s Kathryn Johnstone will be hoping to make her second Commonwealth Games in her home country.
The 23-year old won her sole British title with 50m Breaststroke gold in 2011 but made the Commonwealth final in the same event in 2010 and will line up in the 50m, 100m and 200m Breast in Glasgow.
