Slater soars through MC 50m Free heats

Stephanie Slater impressed to lead MC 50m Freestyle qualifiers on day four of the British Gas Swimming Championships 2013 in Sheffield.

The S8 swimmer set a PB 30.37 to come just 0.1 seconds shy of Heather Frederiksen’s European record and score 871 points.
Slater (SB8) also clocked a PB in the MC 100m Breaststroke heats as she reached the final in 1:24.92 for 751 points.
Nicole Lough was top qualifier though, beating an 11-year old British SB14 record to touch in 1:21.22 for 849 points ahead of Paralympic silver medallist Charlotte Henshaw (SB6) in 1:41.05 (844 points) and Paralympic bronze medallist Harriet Lee (SB9) in 1:21.58 (838 points).
City of Manchester’s Matthew Walker (S7) qualified in first for tonight’s men’s MC 50m Free after qualifying in 28.84 (886 points).
Finally, Scott Quin (SB14) led qualifiers in the men’s MC 100m Breaststroke as he touched in 1:11.07 (827 points) ahead of fellow SB14 swimmers Aaron Moores and Joseph Schenk in 1:13.14 (758 points) and 1:16.45 (664 points) respectively.
