In British Swimming you will find information about the world of high performance sport, including the disciplines of Swimming, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo and Para-Swimming.

The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

Peter Waterfield

Peter Waterfield is one of the most succesful British divers in history, having won medals at every major international competition.

Achievements 1 x Olympic medal, four-time Olympian (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012), 1x World Championship medal, 1 x European medal, 3 x World Cup medals, 2 x Commonwealth medals
Competing at his second of four Olympic Games In 2004, he was won 10m Synchro silver alongside partner Leon Taylor as the pair became Great Britain's first Olympic medallists since 1960.

Waterfield and Taylor also won a World Championship medal together with 10m Synchro bronze in 2005 and two World Cup medals - bronze in 2000 and silver in 2004.

Waterfield was also a world class competitor in the individual 10m event, winning Commonwealth gold at a home Games in Manchester in 2002 as well as Commonwealth silver in 2006 and World Cup bronze in 2012.

He retired in 2013, having competed at his third Olympic Games at London 2012 the previous year.
