In British Swimming you will find information about the world of high performance sport, including the disciplines of Swimming, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo and Para-Swimming.

The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

Hannah Starling

Hannah Starling progressed rapidly after making her senior international debut as a 13-year old with a 14th place finish in the 3m Springboard at the 2009 European Championships.

After finishing 19th in the same event at the 2010 FINA World Cup, Starling enjoyed a breakthrough 2011, landing her first individual British Champs medal with 3m bronze, upgrading her European position to eighth, then making her World Championship debut in Shanghai, finishing 25th in the 1m Springboard.

She secured Great Britain's second quota place for the women's 3m Springboard at London 2012 by holding her nerve in a dive-off at the FINA World Cup then made the semi-finals and finished 13th on her Olympic debut at London Aquatics Centre.

Starling finished her junior career with 3m Springboard bronze and 3m Synchro silver at the 2012 World Junior Championships in Australia.

She established herself as one to watch in her first full senior season, finishing fourth at the 2013 FINA Diving World Series event in Edinburgh then placing seventh at both the European Championships and World Championships.

If I wasn’t a diver I would be: Swimming. I used to be in a swimming club.

Life after diving: I would like to be either a paediatrician or carry on with my music. I play the violin.
