PERSONAL

Did you know?
Michael comes from a sporty family - his mother was a competitive swimmer and his father a professional footballer. Ultimately Michael had to choose between pursuing a career in the two sports and, at 13-years old, picked swimming. He hasn't forgotten his footballing roots though and is a Celtic FC supporter.

Michael's Career
After a promising junior career at the City of Glasgow SC, Michael Jamieson made the transition to senior swimming under Fred Vergnoux's guidance at City of Edinburgh then for a year in Paris. Having narrowly missed out on qualifying for the British team for the 2009 World Championships in Rome, Jamieson opted to return to British shores and join Dave McNulty's elite squad at the British Gas ITC in Bath. The 23-year old hasn't looked back since, qualifying for the 2010 European Championship squad, winning 200m Breaststroke silver at the 2010 Commonwealth Games then finishing fifth in the same event at the 2011 World Championships.
