7 March 2011
Louise Watkin and Matthew Walker claimed the titles in the MC 50m Freestyle splash and dash races on day three in Manchester.
City of Salford swimmer Watkin (S9) qualified first for the final and delivered from the middle lane in Manchester, storming to victory in 29.94 to earn 913 points.
Watkin's finished 0.05 under the qualification time for this summer's IPC European Championships in Berlin and she admitted she was targetting adding the European title to her World crown.
"I'm pleased with how that went," said Watkin. "After winning gold at the World Champs last year it is good to have the qualification time in this event.
"I do think I could have gone faster but I'll take that for now."
Bath University's Kate Grey (S9) finished second in 30.03 (904) while Stephanie Millward (S9) collected bronze in 30.15 (894).
Matthew Walker dominated proceedings in the men's final, winning by a 64 point margin in the multi-class event.
He said: "I've been doing this for a long time but I am really enjoying it at the moment.
"I've had a difficult couple of months but it is great to come here and win.
"I'm disappointed with the time because I wanted to go faster but I got the qualification time for Berlin and hopefully I can keep going up and up."
