Blagg storms to first European Junior gold

London 2012 Olympian Alicia Blagg stole the show on the second day of competition at the European Junior Championships with a gold medal in the 1m Springboard.
"I am so happy to have come out of that final with the gold." - Alicia Blagg 16-year old Blagg enjoyed a consistent prelim to qualify in first place for the final and showed her experience in the final as she scored over 50 points for each of her dives.
Her highest scoring dive came in round two with a Front 2 ½ Somersaults piked and she went on to win her gold medal with a score of 407.40 points.
“This is my first European Junior Championships and to win a gold in my first event is amazing,” Blagg said.
“There were some really talented divers in that final and I just remained calm and kept my head.
“The 1m is my favourite individual event and I think that I relaxed into that final today and enjoyed my diving. It was a great result and I am still smiling now.”
Freddie Woodward finished in seventh place in the 3m Springboard with a total of 533.55 while Lois Toulson and Lydia Rosenthall finished eighth and ninth in the Platform final. They scored 280.75 and 279.55 respectively.
