Cambridge Coach wins prestigious award

09 Dec 2009 08:20

Cambridge diving coach Sam Buck has been named as the winner of the Young Coach of the Year at the 2009 UK Coaching Awards that is hosted by sports coach UK.

Sam was up against adaptive rowing coach Tom Dyson and cricket coach Adam Hall for the gong  - that was supported by sportscotland.

Under the coaching of Sam, 25, Cambridge Dive has enjoyed success at novice, intermediate, national and national-elite level championships, success that has included five gold, one silver and two bronze medals at the 2009 National Age Group diving Championships, a great return for a relatively small diving squad.

Sam was presented his award in a glittering ceremony at Old Billingsgate in London on Tuesday evening as the great and the good of the sports coaching world gathered to honour the successes of coaches and coaching organisations over the previous 12 months.
