25th March 2012
Tom Daley and Pete Waterfield won silver and bronze respectively in the final of the men’s 10m Platform at the FINA/Midea Diving World Series in Beijing.
Double Commonwealth champion Daley performed a consistently excellent set of dives throughout the final and after round one he lay in gold medal position.
China’s Qui Bo overtook the Brit in the second round but Daley showcased his world class talent throughout the rest of the rounds to take his second World Series individual silver medal.
Overall, Daley scored a total of 541.15 to finish behind Bo.
Waterfield had a shakier start to the final but after the third round he moved into medal contention and achieved rips on his last three dives to overtake USA’s Nick McCrory.
The Southampton diver won bronze with a score of 531.80.
World Cup bronze medallist Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow were also in action in the 10m Synchro and finished sixth overall on 307.80.
