Tom Daley and Peter Waterfield have secured places in the men’s 10m final after finishing in sixth and ninth place in the semi-finals respectively at the World Championships in Shanghai.

Waterfield didn’t enjoy the strongest start to his prelim after missing his first two dives but managed to claw his way back up to ninth place to qualify for the semi-final.

He finished his semi-final with a score of 452.80 to secure an Olympic berth for Great Britain next year.

Defending champion Daley enjoyed a steady prelim and, despite a couple of inconsistent dives in his semi, took sixth place overall with a score of 467.80. By reaching the final Tom secured the second place for Great Britain for the Olympics in the 10m Platform.

The men's 10m Platform final - the final diving event of the 2011 World Aquatics Championships - takes place tomorrow at 9am BST.
