DALEY AWARDED BBC YOUNG SPOTY PRIZE
13 Dec 2009
World Champion Tom Daley became the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year (SPOTY) for the second time after first winning the prestigious award for the first time in 2007.
Daley became the first athlete to ever win the award twice at the glittering ceremony in Sheffield. He received his prize from Double Paralympic Champion Eleanor Simmonds. Daley first made a name for himself after becoming Britain's second youngest Olympian when he competed in Beijing and in 2009 he became World Champion after winning the 10m Platform in Rome. Milton Keynes based Doreen Adcock won the BBC Unsung Hero of the Year award. Adcock has taught children within the area to swim for over 35 years and was awarded the prize for her timeless dedication to the sport. -ENDS-
