Starling secures final Olympic quota place
26th February 2012
The British Gas GBR Diving Team signed off from the 18th FINA Visa World Cup with an excellent performance from Hannah Starling in the women’s 3m Springboard dive off.
Starling, who was inspired by the home crowd, completed a consistent list of dives lying in second place throughout the competition.
The City of Leeds diver completed her competition with her Front 2 1/2 Somersaults 1 twist piked to rapturous applause from the home crowd.
She finished second with a score of 318.45 and commented: "I'm so chuffed. That was one of my best ever scores.
"I was feeling the nerves before the competition but once I got out in front of the crowd they just went and I just did my dives.
"It was the best feeling ever. It's made my dream for the Olympic just so much bigger and I just want to get there now."
