British Swimming launches Officials Training Programme
2 Feb 2010
British Swimming is pleased to announce the launch of the new Officials Training Programme which will identify and develop officials and sports specific volunteers within the aquatic disciplines.
The Programme will be used to identify potential National Technical Officials and Sports Specific Volunteers for recommendation to FINA and the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG), within synchronised swimming, diving and water polo that would be interested in working at the 2012 Olympic Games.
Although British Swimming do not make the final decision within the recruitment process for London 2012 officials; the new programme is designed to offer support, guidance and training to any individuals, that have the skill set for the positions available, in order to support their application. You do not have to have the 'official' qualification to be considered, you may be an active volunteer within these roles and therfore classed as a sport specific volunteer.
The programme is designed to provide officials and sports specific volunteers with the opportunity to express their interest in officiating at the Olympic and Paralympic Games and therefore the opportunity for British Swimming to ensure that they have the correct experience to apply.
For more information, or to download an application form, please visit the British Swimming Officials Training Programme pages.
The programme is to run alongside the recently launched British Swimming Volunteer Training Programme; demonstrating British Swimming’s commitment to training both volunteers and officials to deliver world class events.
Applications must be received by Monday 22nd March.
