British Swimming to host LEN Congress

British Swimming will bring together high-ranking officials from European aquatics sports this month when they host the first ever LEN Congress Conference and Exhibition in Edinburgh.
It will be the first time LEN, the European Federation for Aquatics, will host a conference which will focus on issues around governance of the sports, the training of elite coaches and bidding for major international events.
British Swimming will be hosting the 2016 European Championships in London - click here to find out more.Around 180 delegates will attend The Assembly Rooms and the Roxburghe Hotel to hear how the European federation is progressing under its new leadership. It will also be an opportunity for the leaders of aquatic sports to meet and shape policy and strategy for the future.
British Swimming will present their own plans for major events and these will include the LEN 2016 European Championships which will be held at the London Aquatics Centre.
The inaugural conference, which will be held Friday 27th and Saturday 28th September, will also showcase an exhibition with leading manufactures from around the world.
David Sparkes, British Swimming’s Chief Executive said: “We are delighted to be hosting this LEN Congress in Edinburgh, Scotland where the leaders from around Europe will gather to work through the strategic needs of swimming in Europe.
“We will see our leading coaches starting to plan now their competitive programme for the build up to Rio in 2016 to ensure Europe comes back with more medals in all our sports.”

Cllr Richard Lewis, Culture & Sport Convener, City of Edinburgh Council, said: “Hosting the LEN Congress will give us a further opportunity to showcase Edinburgh and, more specifically, the recently refurbished and quite magnificent Assembly Rooms.
“As hosts to the Commonwealth Games diving competitions next year, there is obviously a buzz around aquatics in the city, which I’m sure will feed through into the delegates’ discussions and decision-making during their stay.”
