Sponsorship of swimming wins top industry awards
31 March 2011
The partnership between British Gas and British Swimming has been named the best sponsorship of the year at the industry’s equivalent of the Oscars.
British Swimming's principle partner triumphed at the Hollis Sponsorship Awards 2011, securing two massive wins for their highly successful sponsorship.
Now in their 17th year, the Hollis Sponsorship Awards are the Oscars of the sponsorship industry in the UK.
British Gas won Best Sports Sponsorship of the Year, beating other big players in the field including Aviva athletics sponsorship, O2 rugby sponsorship and npower and the Football League partnership.
British Gas then went on to win the Grand Prix award of the evening, securing the Hollis Sponsorship of the Year, the most prestigious award in the sponsorship industry.
This is a fantastic achievement and we are delighted that the partnership has received such an accolade," said Katie Brazier, British Swimming's Director of Sponsorship.
"I believe both our sport and our principle partner British Gas have gained real tangible benefits through the delivery of joint initiatives to raise awareness, inspire, support and encourage more people to swim at every level. It's a true testament to how effective such partnerships can be."
Andrew Hogan, British Gas Brand Director added: “We are delighted to have won two of the most prestigious awards in the sponsorship field.
"This is a huge achievement for the sponsorship and the sport in what are fiercely competitive categories and further underlines the success of British Gas's commercial partnership with British Swimming."
