In British Swimming you will find information about the world of high performance sport, including the disciplines of Swimming, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo and Para-Swimming.

The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

Asher and Nye confirmed for British Masters

World record holders Jane Asher and Alison Nye have confirmed their attendance at next week’s British Gas Masters and Senior Age Group Championships 2013.

Deadline for entry is Tuesday 11th June at 12 noon. Enter here.The event will take place on 14th-16th June at the brand new Plymouth Life Centre. The centre, which has been open for just over a year, is home to some of the UK’s most successful aquatic stars, including Tom Daley, Tonia Couch and Antony James.

World record holder Jane Asher will be looking to make her mark in the water once again this year as she returns to compete in the 50m, 100m, 200m, 1500m freestyle and the 50m backstroke.

Alongside her, another World Record holder and familiar face on the Masters scene Alison Nye. Nye will be competing in the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m breastroke, 50m butterfly and 100m breastroke.

This years event will showcase more than 550 competitors bringing international swimming to the heart of the South West.

Councillor Peter Smith, Deputy Leader of Plymouth City Council, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting this year’s Masters and welcoming Britain’s top swimmers to Plymouth.

"The Plymouth Life Centre has only been open for just over a year but has already welcomed over a million and a half visitors and won international acclaim for its aquatics facilities.

"We’re looking forward to what promises to be an exciting competition and an impressive display of British swimming talent.”

The last national masters event in October 2012 saw 82 British records, 19 European records and four World records broken. Let’s make this one even better!
