Masters swimmers prepare for competition
17 Jun 2010
Some of the nation’s best Masters swimmers head to Tollcross Leisure Centre this weekend for the British Gas Masters and Senior Age Group Championships 2010.
Around 500 swimmers will take to the water in an effort to be crowned Britain's best, with many looking to set new World, European and British records at the Championships, which run from tomorrow, Friday 18th, to Sunday 20th June.
Names to look out for in the women's events include Jean Howard-Jones (Spencer) who holds British, European and World Masters records in the 65-69 years category.
Amanda Heath, also Spencer, will be one to watch after an excellent performance at last year's European Championships which saw her set a new European record in the Women's 200m Breaststroke 50-54 years age group.
In the men's events, Derek Parr (Otter) will be hoping to replicate his form from the Championships last year where he broke the World record in the Men's 200m Butterfly (65-69 years).
The event kicks off tomorrow at 12pm with the mixed 1500m Freestyle, full results will be available here once the competition starts.
