Nye and Asher end 2012 British Masters in style
7th May 2012
Alison Nye broke an 11-year old world record as the 2012 British Gas Masters and Senior Age Group Championships came to a close in Sheffield
Competing in the 55-59 years age category, the Spencer swimmer came home in 38.24 for gold, ducking under Australian Jan Wicks' 38.30 marker from 2001.
Meanwhile, Jane Asher set her third European and second World record in three days for 200m Backstroke gold in the 80-84 years age category.
The Kings Cormorant swimmer took nearly three seconds off her own world record from last season as she touched in 3:47.96.
The only other world record of the final day went to Trafford Metro's Women's 4x200m Freestyle Relay quartet in the 100-119 years age group.
The squad of Emma Ross, Rebecca Lennon, Laura Bowden and Lucy Lloyd-Roach set a new marker of 9:23.95 - more than 15 seconds beneath the old world record from two years ago.
There were another five British relay records set and nine British records in the individual events including a pair for Guildford's Mike Hodgson who won the 200m Individual Medley (2:23.76) and 50m Breaststroke (32.03) in the 45-49 years age category.
