The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

Spencer swimmers set world records on opening day of British Masters

Spencer swimmers clinched three world records on day one at the British Gas Masters and Senior Age Group Championships 2013 in Plymouth.

The Spencer quartet, Diane Ridings, Amanda Health, Jean Howard-Jones  andAlison Gwynn stormed home in 11:29.37 to claim the first world record of the meet in the Womens 4x200m Freestyle, 240+ age group.

Diane Ford (Spencer) set a new world record in the womens 200m breastroke as she touched home in 3:30.66 in the 70/74 age group category.

Jean Howard-Jones, Diane Ford, Muriel Hitchcock and Alison Gwynn set another world record in the womens 4x 100m in 6:02.33, 280+ age group category.

Helen Gorman claimed a British record in the 40/44 age group category with a time of 2:44.02.

Three British Records were recorded in the Mens 1500m. Hilllingdon’s Adam Warner touched home in 16:48.88 for the 17/24 age group. Andrew Chamberlain (Spencer) clocked his record in a time of 17:30.97, 40/44 age group. In the 50/54 age group, Kingston Roy swimmer Robert Barker claimed his British record with a time of 18:11.96.

The men’s event set a new European record claimed by Birmingham swimmers, Kenneth Williams, Keith Ingram, Mick Marshall and Trevor Clark with a time of 11:24.85, 240+ age group.

There were five British records set in the men and womens 100m backstroke, including one from local Plymouth swimmer Joseph Patching, touching in 57:05, 17/24 age group. Maidenhead swimmer, Carolynn Curtis set a European record in 1:15.97, 50/54 age group.

Jersey Swimmer, John Liron set a European record in the mens 50m freestyle for the 65/69 age group category (28.49). Allen Miles (Brimingham) took home a British record in 42.14 in the 85 years over age group category.

David Warren(Otter) clinched a British record in the mens 100m butterfly for his age group with a time of 59.19.

Otter swimmers, Daniel Bullock, David Warren, Peter Kirk and Peter Rae took home a British record in the mens 4x 100m freestyle. City of Norwich women, Lynne Meale, Debbie Matless, Jo Johnson and Catherine Markwell set a British record in their age group, finishing in 4:22.37.
