Campbell impresses on senior debut

Lucinda Campbell underlined her potential to finish narrowly outside the top 10 on her senior international debut at the European Open Water Championships in Piombino.
The 16-year old, who finished seventh in the 5km 14-16yrs event at the World Junior Open Water Championships in August, was the top performer of the five-strong British team in Italy, finishing 11th in the 5km Time Trial.
Campbell ultimately came home in 1:05.08.0 with British teammate Kristina Neves, also competing at her first senior international, finishing 15th in 1:05.45.5.
Tom Sunter had a busy week in Italy, taking part in the 5km Time Trial and 10km event.
Having finished 27th in the 10km in 2:01.23.2, the 20-year old returned to the water to lead the British challenge in the Time Trial, finishing in 57:35.5.
Caleb Hughes, who was 12th in the 7.5km event at the World Juniors, came home 25th in 58:14.9 while Lewis Smith was 30th in 59:42.4.
