The 15-year old Swansea Aquatics swimmer said: “This will be my biggest event so far so I’m a bit nervous but am also really excited to be competing.

“I was really happy with my performances at the German Open and the European Juniors and it would be great to end the season with another podium.

"It would be great to end the season with a podium at the World Junior Championships" - Sophie Evans“At the beginning of the year I would never have expected my season to have gone so well. I’ve really enjoyed the challenge and excitement of open water swimming as lots can change in a race and it’s about making the right choices at the right time.

“I’ve been doing a mixture of pool and sea sessions during my training to make sure I am prepared for next week and am looking forward to seeing what I can do at the World Junior Championships.”

Joining Evans will be Alice Dearing who competed in the Berlin European Championships, as well as Ellena Jones and Tom Millburn who won the 3km and 2km titles at the British Gas ASA National Championships.
