World SC records for Hollis and Papadopoulos

9 December 2013

Butterfly aces Eleni Papadopoulos and James Hollis were on top form as five Para-Swimmers set British records this weekend.

S10 swimmers Papadopoulos and Hollis were the picks of the five as they both lowered their own short course 200m Butterfly world records at the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Short Course Championships in Sheffield.

Papadopoulos sliced 0.69 off her personal best as she clocked 2:35.25 while Hollis knocked 1.52 seconds off his PB to set a new world marker of 2:14.66.

Gemma Almond and Harriet Lee also set S10 British short course records at BUCS over 50m Butterfly and 50m Freestyle respectively.

Almond ducked just 0.05 seconds under Papadopoulos’ previous record as she touched in 32.68 while Lee clocked 29.70 to beat Emma Cattle’s old marker of 29.95 in the 50m Free.

Paralympic gold medallist Jessica-Jane Applegate was also in record-breaking form at the ASA East Region Winter Championships (50m).

The 17-year old beat her old SM14 400m Individual Medley marker by more than five seconds as she clocked 5:36.45 at University of East Anglia Pool in Norwich.
