Ajulu-Bushell to Chase Olympic Dream in London
5th August 2010
Talented teenage swimmer Achieng Ajulu-Bushell will move to London as she works towards her dream of competing at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The 16-year-old breaststroke swimmer, who switched sporting nationality from Kenya to Great Britain earlier this year, will continue her Olympic preparations at Ealing Swimming Club.
Achieng, who makes her senior British Swimming debut next week at the 30th LEN European Championships in Budapest, will move to Ealing SC from Plymouth Leander to be closer to her family when they return to Britain from Kenya to support Achieng as she pursues her Olympic dream.
Ealing SC Coach Dave Heathcock will work with Achieng on her preparations for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi this Autumn as well as her long-term Olympic ambitions. This will be based at the 50m pool at Gurnell Leisure Centre.
“I really enjoyed my time in Plymouth where the college and club worked really well together so I could combine my studies with swimming,” said Achieng.
“I developed as a swimmer while in Plymouth but now I’m looking forward to the fresh challenge of a new club where I can be closer to my family as I prepare for 2012.”
Achieng will continue her education and begins her A-Levels next month at Notting Hill and Ealing High School.
