In British Swimming you will find information about the world of high performance sport, including the disciplines of Swimming, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo and Para-Swimming.

The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

British Swimming announces interim appointments

British Swimming has appointed into two key leadership roles following the results of the London 2012 Performance Debrief and the resignation of former National Performance Director, Michael Scott.

Mark Perry, who has successfully led both the Open Water and Development Programmes for British Swimming will move up from his current position to take up the interim role of Technical Lead.

Perry, who has recently returned from the Brazilian School Games where his development swimmers won 23 medals out of 24 finals, will provide technical support to the five British Swimming Intensive Training Centres (ITCs) and to other coaches with swimmers on the World Class Programme.

Graham Bassi, the current Assistant Coach at the British Gas Swansea ITC, will replace Perry in the interim to  manage the Development Programme.

Ian Mason, Director of World Class Operations for British Swimming will act as line manager to those who previously reported to Scott.

The recruitment process for a National Performance Director and Head Coach are now underway.
