Couple of medals for Allen

Friday 19th October

Great Britain’s Sophie Allen has won a couple of medals at the FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Moscow.

European silver medallist Allen was equal second in the 100m Medley, touching at the same time as Germany’s Theresa Michalak 59.98 after chasing her down in the final length.

The race was won by Katinka Hosszu of Hungary.

The Stockport ITC swimmer also picked up a bronze in the 200m Medley, also won by Hosszu in 2.08.76.

Zsuzsanna Jakobos of Hungary won the silver in 2.08.76 with Allen touching in 2.09.50.

Allen's brace comes less than a week after she won 200m Individual Medley silver at the Stockholm leg of the World Cup in 2:09.05.

Garioch's Hannah Miley also reached the podium in Sweden, claiming bronze in the 200m Freestyle (1:56.58 PB) and 400m Individual Medley (4:30.86).
