Goddard takes silver with season best time

Britain’s James Goddard delivered a season’s best performance at the European Championships in Hungary to take the silver medal in the Men’s 200m Individual Medley.
The British Gas GBR swimmer took the race on from the very start but was overtaken on the final Freestyle leg by Hungary’s Laszlo Cseh who won in a new Championship Record 1:56.66 ahead of Goddard in 1:57.84.
British team mate Robbie Renwick contested the final of the Men’s 200m Freestyle in Debrecen and finished eighth in 1:49.57. Gold went to Paul Biedermann of Germany in 1:46.27.
Michael Jamieson finished 12th in the semi final of the men's 200m Breaststroke in 2:12.58 and Sophie Allen swam 2:13.29 to qualify fifth fastest for tomorrow’s final of the Women's 200m IM.
