Loughborough swimmers heading to Cyprus
21st March 2012
Members of the British Gas ITC in Loughborough will travel to Cyprus to enjoy a warm weather training camp as they put in the foundations for the Olympic Games.
The elite swimmers will spend 10 days in warm-weather training at the Coral Beach Hotel and Resort near Paphos.
The camp will provide athletes with the opportunity to train in excellent facilities just three months out from competing in the biggest sporting arena of their lives.
Since the resort hosted Britain’s swimmers in 2004, it has been regularly used as a warm weather training base for the British Gas Intensive Training Centres within Britain as well as the club network.
The camp, which has been supported by handling operator Arena Sports and as well Cyprus Tourism Organisation, will be based around an outdoor 50m pool at the hotel.
Kevin Renshaw, Senior Coach at the British Gas ITC Loughborough, commented: "It is great to be going back to Coral Beach Hotel, Cyprus, a venue that we have used on numerous occasions over past few years and an important part of our preparation towards the 2012 Olympic Games. We are always looked after so well by Arena at Coral Beach so it was an easy decision to come back here at such a crucial time in our season."
