Trio of Brits make finals in Russia

British trio Caitlin McClatchey, Rebecca Turner and Ryan Bennett all finished in the top eight to secure final berths on the fifth day of the 2013 World University Games in Kazan, Russia.

Having qualified fastest from the morning heats, University of Edinburgh swimmer McClatchey clocked a season's best 1:58.99 to progress second fastest behind Russia's Veronika Popova (1:58.72).

City of Sheffield's Turner will join McClatchey in the final after progressing fifth fastest.

Turner, who finished seventh in the 100m Freestyle earlier in the meet, touched in 1:59.86 to finish fourth in her heat and book her spot in her second final of the week.

Finally, Bennett became the third British finalist of the Games as he progressed seventh fastest from the 200m Backstroke semis.

The British Gas ITC Stirling swimmer clocked 1:59.72 to touch third in his semi.
