The British Gas Synchronised Swimmers Jenna Randall and Olivia Allison impressed as they finished tenth in the world after a strong performance in their Duet Free Final.

The Olympians reached the final yesterday with a score of 89.833 and were ranked in tenth place. They took to their final with confidence and as they began their routine they looked impressive through their first figure.

Randall and Allison finished in eleventh place in the Duet Technical final and were aiming for a stronger finish in their stronger routine.

They scored well in the final with scores of 9s across the board for their artistic impression and only scored an 8 in the Technical Merit.

They finished in tenth place overall with a score of 90.667.

“They were the scores we were hoping for yesterday in the prelim,” Randall said. “We were ahead of Brazil which was a definite aim for us.

“We looked at videos of the performance last night and we worked on a few things for the final. They worked out well today and we felt a lot stronger in the water.”

The British Gas synchro athletes became the first British team since the 1990 World Championships to reach the Free Team final.

The girls put in a good performance and secured two scores of 9 as they finished in eleventh place with a score of 88.167.

"That routine is not technically one of the hardest in the competition," Randall said. "But we hit our corrections and we are pleased to make the final.

"We wanted to go into it ranked higher than Belarus and we have," Allison said. "We wanted to make a mark in this competition and we wanted to show our energy. We wanted to show everyone that we really want to be here competing at this level."
