New generation of Synchronised Swimmers selected for 2013-2014

28th January 2013

The new British Gas Synchronised Swimming Team for the 2013-2014 season has been unveiled following the weeklong trial at the High Performance Centre (HPC).

Twelve athletes will now train full-time with National Performance Director Biz Price and National Coach Lolli Montico in Aldershot.

Five new athletes, Lucy Bowes, Amy Campbell, Jodie Cowie, Genevieve Randall and Hannah Randall, will begin training with the rest of the team from the Olympics and will be aiming for World Championships this summer.

A further four athletes have been selected to train part-time at the High Performance Centre. Imogen Smith, Chloe Shortman, Corrie Leech and Lily Ryan will work with the full-time athletes and combine school with their training.

Price commented: “This year is a transition year for the squad with five new athletes joining us ahead of the World Championships.

“We have a good mix of youth and experience and we will be going to a number of international competitions to prepare for Barcelona with the duets and the team. It is important the new team athletes gain strength and learn the routines to high standard before the World Championships.

“There will be a lot of hard work ahead for these athletes but I know the seven full time athletes will support them and I believe that there are bright futures ahead for them

“Our new 4 part time athletes will be training weekly at the HPC and integrating their club programme with this. I look forward to integrating their new training programme with their club coaches and the Junior National Coach who will join the HPC staff in April.”
