Randall and Allison celebrate world improvement
22 July 2011
British Gas GBR Synchronised Swimming Team members Jenna Randall and Olivia Allison celebrated an improved world ranking at the World Championships in Shanghai.
The pair were competing in the Duet Free final and their spider-inspired routine impressed the judges with the complex choreography.
The Olympians have been working on improving their intensity and speed through the water in their routine and they were able to demonstrate these elements this evening.
The Commonwealth silver medallists moved ahead of rivals France with their performance which earned them a score of 88.860 and put them in eighth place overall.
“It feels so good to have achieved our aim right now,” said Allison. “In terms of our world ranking, we wanted to beat France here.
“We’ve been going back and forth in the rankings as to who has been put higher and now we’ve done it on a world stage.
“We have proved we can improve. The results we have had this week have made the hard work worthwhile and this feeling really gives you the fighting spirit for the next competition.”
