The British Gas GBR Synchronised Swimming Team retained their world ranking of seventh for the Free Combination routine at the World Championships.
The last World Championships saw National Performance Director Biz Price lead a full British contingent in Rome where they reached every final bar the Technical Team and they secured seventh in the Free Combination.
The playful routine which sees ten swimmers in the water is performed to the theme of dolls and includes intricate and unique choreography.
The routine begins with a jump lift which demonstrates risk to the judges from the start. The Brits showed their passion for the routine throughout and after winning bronze at the European Champions Cup in May the girls performed with confidence.
Lauren Smith commented after the performance: “That was better than the prelims and that was our aim. In terms of corrections we knew that we had to get the lifts to work better and improve our posture in the water. We all feel good after tonight.
“We knew we could improve the corrections from the prelims so we were relaxed before the start. We’ve had good feedback from our coaches and I am pleased we put in a better performance tonight.”
