British Water Polo Super 5s on Sky Sports

2nd March 2012

The British Water Polo League has confirmed highlights of January’s Super 5s weekend in Manchester will be shown on Sky Sports next week.

The 2012 Super 5s was one of the most dramatic with the men's championship going down to the wire before Lancaster were crowned champions on goal difference.

Highlights will be shown on the following dates and channels:

  • Monday 5th March - Sky Sports 2 - 18:00
  • Monday 5th March - Sky Sports 2 - 21:00
  • Tuesday 6th March - Sky Sports 3 - 09:00
  • Tuesday 6th March - Sky Sports 4 - 00:30
  • Tuesday 6th March - Sky Sports 4 - 15:00

The highlights will be the first domestic water polo to be televised for several decades and British Water Polo League chairman David Andrews admits the deal was a significant step forward for the grassroots game.

"This initiative is something we believed was essential to give our sport far more exposure – and to demonstrate what a great spectacle water polo provides," said Andrews.

“What must be stressed is that the whole project has been self-funded by BWPL thanks to sponsorship and the very generous support of friends of the league.

"Bringing it to fruition is a huge coup for BWPL – and what better timing than in the year of the Olympics."
