Brits finish Euro qualifiers on a high
16th October 2011
The British Gas GBR Women’s Water Polo team saw off Israel as they finished their European Championships qualification campaign on a high in Netanya.
The British women kicked off their qualification campaign with a 26 - 1 victory against Israel in Loughborough in January and, having already sealed qualification with last month's defeat of Ukraine, brought it to a close with a similarly comfortable 21 - 3 win.
The victory means Great Britain progress from Group B with four wins from their six matches with two defeats coming against a Spanish side who went unbeaten throughout the qualification stages.
The Brits finished their campaign with a goal difference of +51 having scored 94 goals in their six games and can look forward to their first European Championships for 15 years in Eindhoven between 16 - 29 January 2012.
