The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

Brits finish second in ISPOLO tournament

The British Gas GBR under 17 Water Polo team made their final preparations for their upcoming European Championships with a 16-6 defeat of Turkey in the closing match of the ISPOLO Tournament in Bursa, Turkey.

Despite a close start to the match with the first quarter ending 2-2, the Brits improved as the game went on and they took a firm grip in the second quarter, scoring five goals to the opposition’s one to lead 7-3 at half time.

The Brits continued to dominate the game in the second half and eventually won the match 16-6.

Head Coach Ian MacCallum said: "We wanted to win both games against Turkey convincingly and be competitive against the Italians and we achieved all of these.
“We must now build on this for the European Championships next month.”

•    GB 8 – 21 Italy (Scorers: Lauren Tasker 2, Rosie Huck 2, Honor Grimes 2, Katy Andrew 1, Emily Sutcliffe 1)
•    GB 27 – 4 Turkey B (Scorers: Katy Andrew 7, Betty Bolton 5, Kathy Rogers 4, Hannah Patchett 4, Grace Morley 3, Rosie Huck 2, Emily Sutcliffe 1, Honor Grimes 1)
•    GB 16 – 6 Turkey A (Scorers: Lauren Tasker 5, Emily Sutcliffe 3, Hannah Patchett 3, Grace Morley 2, Katy Andrew  2 Emily Grant 1)
The Brits will face Hungary and Holland in their opening group stages of the LEN European Championships which will be held in Istanbul from 1-9th September.
