EUROPEAN JUNIOR CHALLENGE FOR PROMISING BRITISH GAS WATER POLO TEAM

11 Sep 2009

The British Gas Junior Women’s Water Polo team will be competing in the LEN European U20 Women’s Water Polo Championships from 13th to 20th September.

The 13-strong squad is one of 12 teams to be competing for the title in Naples, Italy where they will face tough opposition from teams such as Serbia, Italy and Hungary.

The team will play their first group match on Monday against Holland and their second on Tuesday against Slovakia, with the hope of competing in the quarterfinals later in the week.

Featuring four of the players that lifted the LEN Women’s European B Nations Trophy in July (Robyn Nicholls, Francesca Clayton, Rachel Drabble, Hazel Muzgrove) and coached by the senior women’s squad coach, Szilveszter Fekete, the team are hoping to mirror the success experienced by both the Men’s and Women’s senior squads this year.
