Brits defeat Holland and Sicily

1 November 2013

The British Gas GBR Men’s Water Polo Team won their second and third matches of the Malta International with victories over Holland and Sicily.

The most impressive result was a 10-6 victory against the Dutch - a team who finished 10th as they hosted the last European Championships in Eindhoven in 2012.

The first three quarters were tight and saw neither team taking an advantage. But the Brits ended the victors with a strong and more confident performance.

Scorers include Ciaran James, Glen Robinson, Sean Ryder and Tom Curwen who all scored one and Jack Waller, Jake Vincent and Declan Thompson scored two.

Having also defeated Israel in their opening game, the Brits secured a third victory with an 11-8 win against Sicily.

After a close first half, the British men pulled clear in a physical game with Curwen and Sean King bagging three goals each and James, Robinson, Vincent, Joe O'Regan and Thompson adding single efforts.
