SUCCESSFUL TRAINING TRIP FOR WATER POLO MEN

The British Gas team were invited to Macedonia as training partners for the national side’s preparations for the World Championships in Rome.

The trip did not get off to a successful start as the team were stuck in heavy traffic on the way to the airport and consequently missed their flight to Macedonia meaning they didn’t arrive until 3am on the morning of their first match.

As a result they were tired leading to some mistakes and they were defeated 15-3.

Head Coach, Cristian Iordache said “Following the disappointment of the first match we had a meeting and discussed what we had learnt from it. The second match we controlled well and were very happy with the win.

“Everybody is happy now: they realised that without going through the drama of having to sleep in an airport they would have missed the opportunity to beat Macedonia for the first time.”
