The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

Sascha Kindred OBE

Sascha Kindred is one of the most experienced and decorated swimmers in the Paralympic movement, having won 12 medals from the past five Paralympic Games.

He landed 100m Breaststroke silver on his Paralympic debut at Atlanta 1996 then completed an impressive hat-trick over the next three Paralympics, winning the SB7 100m Breaststroke and SM6 200m Individual Medley titles at the Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.

In 2012, Kindred added his 12th Paralympic medal with SM6 200m Individual Medley silver in front of a home crowd at London 2012.

Kindred also has an impressive record at World and European levels. He has won seven gold medals over the past four IPC World Championships and has won at least one gold at all six IPC European Championships at which he has competed, including three most recently at the 2014 event in Eindhoven.
