World Class Programmes
The programmes are in place to fund and provide support to athletes who have the ultimate goal of reaching the Paralympic Podium.
There are two programmes that make up the World Class Pathway:
- World Class Podium Programme - this programme supports athletes with realistic gold medal winning capabilities at the next Paralympic Games.
- World Class Podium Potential Programme - this programme supports athletes who's performances have suggested they have a realistic chance to qualify for 2016 but who are aiming for medal success in 2020 and beyond.
National Performance Centre
The British Para-Swimming National Performance Centre in Manchester has been operating since the end of 2013 as a world class training base for the British Gas GBR team.
It is a training base for a number of elite swimmers as well as the home to national coaches Rob Greenwood and Graeme Smith.
As part of the world class training environment, athletes will have access to the highest levels of support from sports science to nutrition and lifestyle advice.
