Taper Time with Chris Walker-Hebborn - Post Berlin

15 Apr 2010

Taper Time meets with Chris Walker-Hebborn who is one of the country’s most promising swimmers. In late March he will compete for a place in the Commonwealth Games at the British Gas Championships in Sheffield. Be part of the drama and follow Chris’ blog as he prepares.

Now it's taper time - the part of training I personally live for with more sleep, less meters and faster swimming.

After returning from Berlin at 2am, all I could think about was my own bed waiting for me, an amazing feeling when your head hits the pillow having been away for the past couple of days!

The event itself was brilliant, the pool complex was outstanding and I managed to PB in every event, coming away with silver and a bronze.  Making the 50m Free final was the best because they turned off all the lights and lit up the pool, so that was a little bit different, it’s always good to mix things up! All in all Berlin was a very good meet for me and I’ve come away with lots of positives for the season.

Now it’s taper time, the part of training I personally live for, it involves more sleep, less meters and faster swimming, what more could a swimmer ask for? This will continue for another 2 weeks before we head off to the Commonwealth trials, things are definitely looking good and I can’t wait to race in Sheffield, bring it on!!!!
