Jack Burnell

Jack Burnell earned his first international stripes in 2010, finishing fourth in the 1500m Freestyle at the 2010 European Junior Championships in Helsinki, having placed seventh in his first British Gas Swimming Championship final over the same distance earlier in the year.

He landed his first British Champs podium finish with 1500m Freestyle bronze at the London Aquatics Centre in 2012 before turning his attention to open water for the 2013 season.

He secured a top 10 finish with eighth at the second leg of the FINA Marathon Swimming World Cup in Argentina before sealing a spot on the open water team bound for the Barcelona World Championships with a fourth-place finish at the Portuguese Nationals.

Burnell continued his progress in the 10km race in Barcelona, finishing less than 20 seconds off the podium in 15th.

His best major international performance to date came at the 2014 European Championships where he finished sixth overall in the 10km after a tight race in Berlin.
