Jack Burnell

Jack Burnell is a promising distance swimmer who made his World Championship debut in Barcelona in 2013.

Burnell earned his first international stripes in 2010, finishing fourth in the 1500m Freestyle at the 2010 European Junior Championships in Helsinki, having placed seventh in his first British Gas Swimming Championship final over the same distance earlier in the year.

He continued his development over the next couple of years before landing his first British Champs podium finish with 1500m Freestyle bronze at the London Aquatics Centre in 2012.

After making his senior international championship debut at the 2012 European Short Course Champs in Chartres, Burnell turned his attention to open water for the 2013 season.

He secured a top 10 finish with eighth at the second leg of the FINA Marathon Swimming World Cup in Argentina before sealing a spot on the open water team bound for the Barcelona World Championships with a fourth-place finish at the Portuguese Nationals.

Burnell continued his progress in Barcelona, finishing less than 20 seconds off the podium in 15th.
