Swimmer profiles

Along with the instantly recognisable world record holder and gold medal winner Rebecca Adlington, Britian can boast a range of successful swimmers. If you ever wanted to know more about them, from their vital statistics to their favourite music, then this is the place to start.

Welcome to the swimming profiles page. British Swimming has moulded a range of top performing athletes, successfully competing all over the world. And if you are looking for a little more insight into our record breakers and medal winners then this is the page for you.

Learn about how some athletes have an enviable record when it comes to hauling in medals at worldwide events. Such as Rebecca Adlington, Britain’s first Olympics swimming champion since 1988 and the first British swimmer to win two Olympic gold medals since 1908.

Along with Rebecca there is Jessica Dickons, first selected to the Great Britain squad in 2004 and who to date has won three gold, three silver and four bronze medals in various international and domestic events. Or Liam Tancock, who started his swimming competitively at the age of 8 at Exeter City Swimming Club in Devon and who in August 2009 set a new world record for 50m backstroke.
