The British Gas British Swimming Stirling ITC is based at the University of Stirling on campus in the National Swimming Academy.  Key partners - Scottish Swimming, sportscotland and the University of Stirling - work together with British Swimming to deliver a world-class performance environment. Read on to learn more.

British Gas Stirling ITC

The British Gas British Swimming ITC Stirling partnership has generated significant new support, services, and investment for the original performance centre which was established at the University’s National Swimming Academy in 2001, taking forward the partnership’s shared quest for success.

Doug Frost is responsible for the British Swimming ITC programme at Stirling.  Doug has an outstanding reputation as a coach, perhaps best known as the coach of Ian Thorpe, winner of five Olympic and 11 World Championship gold medals.

Working alongside Doug is Rob Greenwod, the ITC’s Assistant Coach.  Prior to his appointment at Stirling, Rob was Head Coach to the Gallica Performance Squad in Lancashire. In 2010 Rob was named as one of 12 emerging high performance coaches within the first intake of UK Sport’s Elite Coaching Apprenticeship Programme.

Stirling has an impressive collection of sports facilities on its magnificent parkland campus. The base for British Swimming’s ITC is the 50m pool that also includes a land conditioning room off pool deck.  Two minutes away are sports sciences laboratories and an 800m sq fitness centre, containing an aerobic area and two strength and conditioning areas, each with five Olympic lifting platforms and associated equipment.  One also contains cameras to facilitate notational analysis.
