Sophie Allen

After medals at the 2008 European Junior Championships and 2009 British Gas Swimming Championships, Sophie Allen’s progress was curtailed by a hip injury in 2010.

She bounced back in 2011 with British Champs silver in the 200m IM then a sixth place finish in the same event at the World University Games.

Another 200m IM silver at the 2012 British Champs saw Sophie qualify for her first major teams in 2012, where she won 200m IM silver at the European Championships in Debrecen then finished 21st in the same event at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

She continued her progression in 2013, landing her first British titles over 100m Breaststroke and 200m Individual Medley then competing at her debut World Championships in Barcelona, reaching the 200m IM final where she finished seventh.

After landing 200m Individual Medley bronze at the 2014 British Championships, Allen made her Commonwealth debut for England at Glasgow 2014, reaching the 200m IM final and finishing sixth.
