Go Swimming has everything you need to know about swimming. If you are a parent, a non swimmer or just want to improve your technique this is the section for you.

In British Swimming you will find information about the world of high performance sport, including the disciplines of Swimming, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo and Disability Swimming.

The ASA is the governing body for the sport in England. In this section you will find all you need to know about joining a club or competing in England and becoming a swimming teacher or coach.

The IoS delivers the ASA’s courses and is a member organisation. Whether you are a teacher, coach, employer or club you will find everything you need to know about qualifications or educating your workforce.

Judge Training

There are three levels of Synchro Judge:

  1. National Judge (N) – Judges who have passed the FINA/ ASA examination
  2. General Judge (G)
  3. Basic Judge (BJ)

National Judge Training Course

Trainee judges attend a 4-day training course.  The syllabus includes:

Session 1 (2 days) - Technical aspects including age-group figures and technical elements for technical routines.

Session 2 (2 days) - Judging free routines, technical routines and free routine combinations.

The course is examined through a written examination which includes questions related to judging figures and routines, and marking of routines from video.

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must be 18 years of age or over
  • Ideally candidates will have previously attended a Basic Judge course and gained experience at novice competitions.

Basic Judge Training Course

This is a one day course introducing potential Judges to judging figures and routines for Under 12 National Age Group figures.   

There is no assessment or examination.

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must be 16 years of age or over
